Words of Wisdom: DNC Speech Highlights from Kamala Harris, Barack and Michelle and Bill Clinton
I wish I had more time this week to watch and listen to even more of the DNC speeches. I watched Joe Biden, AOC, Michelle and Barack Obama, Tim Walz, Bill Clinton, Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris last night.
So many powerful words. The energy was palpable. The idea that we are moving forward was undeniable. As recently as June, the notion that any of this energy, optimism or momentum was possible…
We are sensing possibilities again rather than recoiling in fear.
But...there is work to be done before November. Am I going to do anything? Well…I’m going to talk to my students and to other teachers and friends. At least I can do that…and send some small donations to Force Multiplier and Act Blue and Fair Fight.
And I can copy and paste powerful words:
From Michelle Obama:
“Most of us will never be afforded the grace of failing forward. We will never benefit from the affirmative action of generational wealth. If we bankrupt the business or choke in a crisis, we don’t get a second, third, or fourth chance. If things don’t go our way, we don’t have the luxury of whining or cheating others to get further ahead. No. We don’t get to change the rules, so we always win. If we see a mountain in front of us, we don’t expect there to be an escalator waiting to take us to the top.”
