Lyft-o-mania: Visiting Seattle

Walking Seattle, Lyft Rides, Thoughts on Barbie and Oppenheimer and Two Red Sox Games

I arrived in Seattle on a sunny Saturday at the end of July. Four days with my old friend Mike. The plan was simple: walk all over the place, eat delicious food, and catch two Red Sox games, in town to take on the Mariners. As is usually the case when discovering a new city without a rental car, we took various forms of transportation, from the monorail, to the Link (subway) in addition to many Lyft rides.

Ivan
Saturday, 5:45pm. Silver Toyota Prius.

From the airport to hotel in the Queen Anne district. Ivan was likely a Russian immigrant. Maybe 40. Didn’t respond when I began talking and asking him questions. I thought maybe he was new with English. As I left the car I noticed what I thought was a hearing aid. Usually the ride-share apps tell you if the driver is hearing-impaired. Maybe it was a large ear bud and he just wasn’t interested in a chat. Maybe he was hearing-impaired. I’ll never know.

I met up with Mike. We checked out the scenic roof deck of the hotel. Sunshine, skyline and breeze. Later that night, we ate one of the better Mexican meals I’ve ever had at Sal Y Limon. Zesty pork nachos and a chicken mole plate that has me drooling even…
