Small moments, settling words, ruminations and tumbling thoughts for your fall reading.

Dusk

Maybe they call it evening
Because the sun slips down
And the light fills with color
Reflects a balance
Between light and dark
For a moment
A sunset might even
Even the most unbalanced
Among us

We step slowly
Around the neighborhood
As the dusk settles upon the trees
JoJo the dog is healthier now
Shot with medicine
Controlling her blood sugar
After a scare

The dogs of our block
Call out to us, lonely tonight
Saturday, 8pm
Must be a lonely time
For many dogs
The people eat at restaurants
And leave their dogs home
Maybe a few catch a glimpse
Of this sunset
Through a window
