When the World is on Pause

When the World is on Pause
Walk your dogs
One old and slow
On hushed streets
In the wind and void…

When the World is on Pause
No one knows
How long they have
On this spinning globe…

When the World is on Pause
Some still have to work
As the markets stumble
And the borders close
Tomorrow morning
Schools empty
A new knowledge
Awaits us…

When the World is on Pause
You’ll be home
With your little girl
Who wants to hold
All the world
In the palm
Of her hand
All desire and exploration
Always needs a big hug
No viral fears
But overwhelmed
Often with tears…

When the World is on Pause
Make new plans
Improvise those already made
Look out for older folks
As all go on a toilet paper raid…

When the World is on Pause
There is no pressing play
No wishing it all away
No distractions today…

When the World is on Pause
Its time to slow down
Examine life
From a higher ground…

When the World is on Pause
Begin to see the uncertainties
Markets built on wounded knees
While a sickness makes us sneeze
All terrified of a new disease…

When the World is on Pause
A planet tilting away
From viability, all is delayed
Future water, future fire, future air
Suspended and hovering while we stare…
