“You Interrupted My Daydream”

The 6 and a half year-old tells me this when I let her know its time to finish the French toast sticks or we will be late to school again. If only we could live in a world where daydreams were prioritized. I suppose that’s one reason to spend 10 minutes writing a poem.

The 6 and a half year-old had a difficult weekend, which means the 43 year-old had a difficult weekend. She missed Mama. The rain took over. Even the new puzzle…was missing one edge piece. We had our positive moments. Cozy on the couch. Reading at the end of the night in bed. She had a playdate with her old pal from preschool while us parents caught up downstairs. I dealt with intestinal issues and sleep issues…maybe needing more probiotics after the dose of antibiotics…life moves on.

Here we are on a Monday morning and Mama will return home in a few hours. The rain has temporarily stopped.
